Ass.-Prof. Dr. Laura Grestenberger, PI
Laura Grestenberger is Assistant Professor of Diachronic Syntax at the Department of Linguistics at the University of Vienna. Her research interests include historical and comparative Indo-European linguistics, language change, and morphological and syntactic theory. She is a specialist in the reconstruction of Indo-European verbal and nominal morphology and has published widely on verbal morphosyntax from a synchronic and a diachronic perspective. She has taught undergraduate and graduate classes on language change, comparative Indo-European reconstruction, and morphological theory in the US, Canada, and Austria. Before EVOCAT she was the PI of the Austrian Science Fund project “Verbal categories and categorizers in diachrony".

Dr. Carolina Marescotti, Postdoctoral Researcher
Carolina Marescotti is a postdoctoral researcher specializing in historical and theoretical linguistics. She defended her PhD dissertation on Ancient Greek and Latin denominal and deadjectival verbs at the syntax–semantics interface in 2024 and subsequently worked on the construction of a corpus of verbal valency in Late Latin at the University of Naples Federico II. Her research focuses on diachronic morphology and verbal valency, aspect, and voice, with particular emphasis on Ancient Greek and Latin. She is especially interested in linguistic phenomena located at the syntax–semantics interface.

Itamar Kastner, BA PhD, Senior Research Fellow
Itamar Kastner is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences at the University of Edinburgh, visiting EVOCAT for the duration of the 2026/27 academic year. His research investigates the structure of words from theoretical, experimental and computational perspectives. Another strand of his work researches evidence-based approaches to pedagogy. He is co-editor of the journal Innovations in Linguistics Education.

Susanne Bidner, BA MA, Project Administrator
Susanne Bidner serves as the project administrator. She holds a degree in Specialised Translation from the University of Vienna and has several years of experience in administration and project management across a range of organisations.
